BE radient

Great outdoor photos rely on good lighting and subjects that contrast with the background. we had bright sun for the photo shoot so many of the photos were taken in the shade. With a little editing magic they appear bright and clear.
~ BE radient ~
This page is meant to be a companion page to the single photo layout from Monday. I had only scraps of the original paper. I combined those with similar colors from another collection and used complimenting embellishments.

You Make My Heart Sing

The pink of this Crate Paper collection blends nicely with the assorted butterflies and birds. The result is a layout with a light hearted feel. The pre-printed title block lends to the musical theme.

~ You Make My Heart Sing ~
When I doodle on a layout I try to make allowances for mistakes. Sometimes the pen just doesn't cooperate or I forget my pattern. To plan for these problems I doodle first, then layer. That gives me the option of covering a portion of my design.

Mini Album Blog Hop

Welcome to a Mini Album Blog Hop!
For this event I made a mini of our duckling.
We only had our little sweet pea a few days, but we enjoyed every minute of it.
~ Little Duck Lost ~
I decided on a simple mini-album and used cardstock back-to-back for my pages instead of covering chipboard. Craftsmith paper has wonderful texture and patterns and is heavy enough to use mixed media throughout. The Terra Nova paper pad has just the right tones to bring out the emotion in the black and white photos I used.
For this album I added depth with modeling paste and stencils. I also used embossing powder, wood bits, and plenty of washi tape, from Love My Tapes. The print paper doilies are made from an assortment of Kreaxions punches and Circle Cutter.
Because this album was essentially a farewell piece I wanted something special for my photo mats. I picked up an art biography on Monet while out thrifting. The full color photographs of his art work made fitting tribute to the sweet creature we hosted.

BUT.......

Feathers and Poppies

There's nothing like a good quote and a clever friend to inspire creativity.
The idea for these frames came from my Instagram friend: @perfectducks
~ What if I Fall? ~
"What if I fall?"
"Oh but my darling
what if you fly!"
~ Erin Hanson
I'm ecstatic to have finally moved back to the Northwest. On one of my first walks I picked this poppy. The feathers I appropriated from my neighbors chickens.

Slip over to the Love My Tapes blog for a quick tip on setting washi tape on straight.

The Cat's Pyjamas

Today's project combines one of my favorite paper companies with my favorite clothing style.
The 1920's flapper dresses were all about she shimmer and flow of the material and the unusual hem and neckline accents.
~ You're the Cat's Pyjamas! ~
The teal foundation paper of my card as well as the purple I used for the photo shoot are Craft Smith: Terra Nova. The patterns are so delectable!!!
