Washi Tape Tutorial

Washi tape is a fun new craze and I’m having loads of fun playing with it. The bright colors make it a natural accent for craft paper. For this card I choose a sheet of craft paper with printed designs.

Step 1: Using a craft knife, cut out portions of the printed images.

Step 2. Trace the edge of the patterned paper onto a white piece of cardstock, then trace the cut-out areas.
Step 3: Place washi tape over the coresponding areas on the white cardstock. If the pencil makings are too dark, lightly erase so that they won’t show through the tape.
Step 4: Cut the white cardstock so it fits completely behind the patterned paper. Embellish bits of the design with floss or twine. Adhere the white cardstock to the patterned paper.
Step 5: Adhere patterned paper to a card blank. Wrap the edges of the card with a corresponding color of washi tape.
Step 6: Send love to someone and brighten their day!

If you've enjoyed this super easy way to use washi tape head on over to
to see another application of this technique!!!

What Ever Quill I Do?

My children are fascinated by the idea the people use to write with feather quills. They assume that every feather they pick up is just the right one. When my cobalt blue ink dried up my girly just couldn't believe that practicing with her latest quill would have to wait.

She went hunting for an acceptable substitute. When she saw the Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam on my stamping shelf her eyes lit up.
She was right, it works great!
Here's to my Lori for finding yet another reason to keep buying scrapping supplies!!!

Our first Paper Girls Challenge for October is to use transparencies. I've been toying with making my own lately so I thought I'd give you an example of just how good it can look.
These are made with 3M transparency film and rub-ons. I layered 2 sheets of transparency to keep the rub-ons from peeling off.
