Dragons and Mermaids

I am one of the new designers for the Robin's Nest and my specialty is Altered Items. I also happen to have a serious thing for dragons and mermaids. I don't have a lot of practice drawing, but I tried my hand at it for today's project.
I began my project with a white pair of tennis shoes,
a tracing book by Chris Down, and a pile of Dew Drops!
I chose a long tailed serpentine dragon for the right shoe and a mermaid with flowing hair for the left shoe. I am not to fond of how her face turned out...but her tail makes me VERY happy! LOL!
On the toe of the dragon's shoe I marked out a treasure pile.
On the mermaid's shoe I colored a treasure chest.
I added dew drops to the toes to give my fairy tale shoes live detail.
Artist Tip: Choose a glue that will move with the shoes or you will be scattering treasure as you walk!
To finish my side designs I added pearls to the mermaids hair and a gem at her throat. I also adhered a few dew drops to her tail. The Dragon has black diamond dew drops on his wings and a green eye.
The dew drops are SUPER easy to use and so much fun.
My fairy tale shoes sparkle and shine with these perfect additions.

Make a wish...

ATC's are little morsels of goodness that can be designed anyway you want.
The only official rule is that they measure 2.5 x3.5 inches.
~ Make A Wish... ~
Just as the title says, they are Artist Trading Cards.
This set of ATC's is in the process of being traded with 12 other designers.
Can't wait till I get my set of trades. The group is ultra talented
and very diverse in their decorative choices!
This lovely rainbow paper is a Kreaxions product.
The fade from dark to light adds to its novelty.

Supplies:
Paper:Kreaxions
Stamps:Close To My Heart, Teresa Collins
Ink:Ranger and Color Box

Happy Birthday To Me

I like to do a Birthday post each year just to share how grateful I am that God has seen fit to keep me here, enjoying this AMAZING life!!!
Today is no different. I got places to see and people to go.

But first, I've been wrangling with watermark technology. After several paths of misdirection I found this SUPER helpful post on beginner beans. It's an older post...but it checks out!!!
With the help of this post I finally have my OWN watermark for craft images. But why stop there? Here it is on my latest head shot...needed a new one for some upcoming DT announcements!!!

And there it is again, on my jeans...how silly, just like me and my dear friend Venetia! What a day we had wandering around Tacoma and drinking coffee!!!

And this one...nothing short of magical!
For the longest day of the year a friend and I hiked up Beacon Hill and came down in the moonlight!

Yep, nothing like a good watermark to make your life a dream come true!
Have a fabulous day, I sure plan to!!!

Hello There

Today's project is a card for Just Imagine.
The circle frame with punched design uses Kreaxions Circle Cutter as well as Punch #916. I can't say enough how perfectly the Circle Cutter measures out the dimensions exactly. Reproducing a project exactly is a snap!
~ Hello There ~
I like to think inspiration is everywhere. For this card I found the following image on Pinterest and knew I wanted to use it as a sketch. Sticks don't make it through the mail to easily so I settled for modeling paste and a similar shape.
Do you find sketches and inspiration in unexpected places?

Supplies:
Paper:Craftsmith
Modeling Paste:Liquitex
Metal Charms:Michaels
Flowers:Previous Kit
Stamp:CTMH
Ink:Colorbox
Embossing Powder:Zing
Feather Die:Lawn Fawn

Celebrate

I've been seeing beautiful mixed media cards with twine and other items looped to add depth to a card. I decided to recreate this look with paper.
~ Celebrate ~
The pink shreds of paper were simple to create and look so striking against the black paper. For this card I cut a 5" circle with the Kreaxions Circle Cutter. I reset the cutter to 1/2 inch smaller and repeated the process till I had several circles. I cut the circles in half and adhered them to the card front.
I trimmed the ends individually until I had a staggered look. I misted a flower to match the paper shreds and and attched it over the top with leaves. The gold crowns have a dot of adhesive and a strand of twine that lets them drape from under the flower.

Supplies:
Paper:Glitz, Fancy Pants, Craftsmith
Florals:Prima
Twine:Queen and Co
Stamp, Ink:Close To My Heart
Crown Punch:Kreaxions #611
Circle Cutter:Kreaxions
