This card has a very "Winnie-the -Pooh" sentiment and feel to it.

In order to give the illusion of a breeze coming through the window I used a stiff jute. I hot glued it at the top and center after giving the twine a little extra length to bow out.

Orphans

DCWV has some wonderful stacks out. This layout features Steampunk Botanica and Trade Winds. The detail is fabulous and I love the heavy paper. It stands up well to multiple layers.

To enhance the steampunk theme I added 7 Gypsies and Kaiser Craft rub-ons as well as Embossed Ephemera by Making Memories.

I wrapped the round elements with MME twine, added a strand of Recollections gems and another of Recollections sequin trim.

With a dot here and there of Black Diamond Stickles and Thickers for the title,

my page was complete.

Glowing Lanterns

Try these sweet glowing lanterns for a paper crafters take on an age old party theme.

Supplies:Thick scrapbooking paper: Equal amounts of black and brightly colored
Border Punch
All Over the Page Punch (Martha Stewart, Caning Pattern)
Quick Dry Adhesive
Large Pot of Steaming Water
Battery Operated Candles

Lantern "Glass"

Step 1) Cut brightly colored paper to size.

(Individual sizes are listed with lantern image.)

 

Step 2) Place paper in pot of water till wet through but not disintegrating. This process takes 2 to 5 minutes, depending on the brand of paper and its individual thickness. You'll need scraps to test the time limit for each paper.

Step 3) Carefully peel paper apart. Some brands come off in full sheets, others have to be rolled off with finger tips. The paper is VERY fragile when wet and must be treated with care. Be sure you have extras of each sheet of paper. I used My Mind's Eye, Authentique, and DCWV.

Step 4) Let paper dry. Iron (no steam!) to remove wrinkles. Place under stack of books to flatten.

Directions:
Step 1) Cut all pieces of black paper to size.

Step 2) Lay black paper on punch base so that the top and left edges just cover the magnets.

Step 3) Punch paper in 3 rows, with 2 punches across for large triangle and in 2 rows with 2 punches across for small triangle.

 

Step 4) Score paper 1/4 inch from top and left edges, and 1/2 inch from the bottom edge.

 

Step 5) Adhere "Glass" to inside of each lantern piece so that brightly colored side shows through black lattice design.

Step 6) Adhere lantern sides together by placing adhesive along scored edge. Place scored edge behind adjoining lantern side. In other words, all overlapping is done inside the lantern, rather than outside.

Step 7) Adhere and fold top scored edge to the inside of the lantern.

Step 8) Place bottom piece inside of lantern, adhere and fold bottom scored edge under. Use ruler or other tool to press down around lantern edges to secure flaps.

Step 9) Place battery operated candle in lantern.

Large Triangle Lantern Pieces:

Cut three pieces of bright paper 3.5x5 inches
Cut three pieces of black paper 3.75x5.75 inches
Cut one piece of black paper into a 3.5 inch equilateral triangle.
(This piece can be traced off the lantern after it is assembled, assuming the sides can be held firmly in place.)



Small Triangle Lantern Pieces:
Cut three pieces of bright paper 3.5 inches square.
Cut three pieces of black paper 3.75 by 4.25 inches.
Cut one piece of black paper into a 3.5 inch equilateral triangle.
(This piece can be traced off the lantern after it is assembled, assuming the sides can be held firmly in place.)

Cuddly Critter

Use it Tuesdays new challenge is to use up all that ribbon laying about. Well I must admit...I have a fair stash. The crocheted ribbon on this layout is from my first Stella and Rose purchase! (That would have been about 18 months ago.)

I was in the mood for a little doodling so I got out my Sharpie and went to town. The photo mats, highlighted hexagons, and "ribbon" are embellished with my trusty fine tip.

For these two frames I went with a Victorian and then an Art Nouveau style.



The large frame is meant to be an average wood frame

and the one on the right just a detail carved frame.
