Paper Cones

Need more photo clips for all those Christmas pics of family?
Throw together some nifty paper cones in off season colors and you are all set!

I like the tone on tone grey swirl from Craft Smith, Crystal Frost.

To make the cone with the lime splash I used Kreaxions punch #310.

1) Punch a 6" long strip of paper, trim to .5" above the design to get the correct width.

2) Layer and adhere punched strips over 9" x 5.5" rectangle of contrasting paper.

3) Set circle cutter to 9". Trace a half circle on the back of the rectangle strip.

4) Cut out circle and fold paper into cone. Fasten with brads.
5) Cut a .5" to 1" slit in the point of the cone for holding photos or cards.

 

 Use your new paper cones year round for displaying your favorite photos!

Snowflake Card

Winter windows just aren't complete without a few paper snowflakes. I never was very good at getting my folds exact so that all six sides of my design matched. This winter I discovered how to make snowflakes with my Kreaxions punches.

 Problem Solved!!!

Tutorial:

To begin this project you will need a circle cutter, protractor, punch #301, and scissors.

Step1:

Cut a 5 inch circle from Cardstock.

Divide the circle into 12 sections. 

This is easiest to measure at 30 degree intervals with a protractor.

Step 2:

Punch every other line with Punch #301, 

centering the punch exactly each time.

Step 3:

Cut the circle again with the Circle Cutter set at 4 inches.

Step 4:

Punch the in between lines with Punch #301.

Step 5:

Trim the outside set of punch marks.

I curved mine toward the center, as drawn on the paper.

It may take a few tries to get the hang of punching exactly on the lines. 

If your first few tries come out a little damaged cut them in half and use them as layers, peaking out from behind a photo or card sentiment.

Sparkle Flake

Winter in the Pacific Northwest is just right for papercrafting. 

One thinks highly of enjoying the outdoors through the windows rather than from the drivers seat!!!

Although this gold foil design is not 6-sided, it was made with the idea of a snowflake in mind. I used the Kreaxions circle cutter, star template, and punches #907 and #909. 

The gold foil paper and Red music notes are by Craftsmith Co., from last years Christmas release. And not to be neglected is that delightful gold embossing powder from WOW and the little red brad from Recollections.
A tutorial on punching snowflakes will be available on January 14th.

Jingle Trees

Decorating for Christmas with gold foiled paper is so fun!
 The Mint Pink paper pad from Craft Smith offers a great alternative color scheme.

These trees are made from triangles, slit part way down the center and bent towards the ends. The edges are punched with Kreaxions Punch #312.

The tray was a wood grain contact paper number I snatched up at a thrift store. I gave it a few coats of black acrylic paint and then sprinkled it with glitter and powdered milk paint while the final coat was still drying. After sufficient drying time, I knocked the extra powder off and added trees and candles.

Star Wishes

Full time college classes leave little room for crafting, but the savvy crafter will always find away!!! I couldn't let Christmas zoom past without at least a nod at the new Star Wars movie!

My first card uses a combination of Craftsmith paper, Funfare stencil, and Kreaxions punch # 914.

Kreaxions punch #312, another Funfare stencil, and silver foiled Craftsmith paper were used to create the second card.

The Sky Is The Limit

Today I used punches to make a butterfly card. I like the shapes-with-in-a-shape concept and my Kreaxions punches made that ultra easy.

The larger butterfly #604 and the smaller butterfly from border punch #901 mesh nicely. To stay true to the butterfly shape I cut some of the butterflies in half.

Hello Fall

Today's project is an Autumn banner.
Our rainy weather dried up just long enough to grab a photo on my wooden fence. So quaint!

I like to use journal blocks for quick projects. For this one I just rounded the corners and adhered them to the circles.
