How To Make A Stunning Mixed Media Mermaid

This stunning mixed media card has a mermaid silhouette made from Calambour 3D Glossy Gel. The gel was applied thickly through a stencil with a brush to leave a nubby texture. Foiled and patterned paper in a Copper and Turquoise color scheme offer the reader a Great Day. 

 The base of this card is a 4x6" piece of patterned cardstock. I placed a slightly smaller paper over it, then painted the edges with Chalkboard Mist.

 I pair of concentric ovals in copper and turquoise shape the center. Best Glue Ever in scant amounts holds the foiled paper to the base.

 The mermaid is painted on the center piece with a home made stencil and 3D Glossy Gel.

 After allowing the mermaid to dry thoroughly, a few stripes of Best Glue Ever secure the top oval in place.

 The sentiment is popped up with the help of craft foam and dots of Best Glue Ever. The No-Clog Writing Cap ensures the glue goes only where it is needed.

  A cluster of shell stickers adorn the corner and the card is complete.

How To Make A Congratulations Card That Shines

Today's project is a Congratulations card that shines. Rinea Foiled Paper and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist work together to give the dragon a spark of personality. Best Glue Ever from ScraPerfect works behind the scenes to keep things secure. 

~ Congratulations ~

 The dragon medallion is a stamped and embossed image. I painted it with Glimmer Mist to give it a water color effect. I used a corrugated circular die to cut out the dragon.

The base of this card is a 4"x 6" piece of emerald Rinea Foiled Paper. On top of that I placed a slightly smaller piece of black cardstock with the word Congratulations cut out from it with a die.

 I used Best Glue Ever to go all around the word. To get in the small spaces with out over doing it I used a No-Clog Writing Cap.

The dragon medallion is centered on a strip of gold foiled paper with scant amounts of BGE.

After letting the glue set a minute I added thin strips of Best Glue Ever to the back of the gold foiled paper and centered it below the sentiment. 

 I spread a thin layer of BGE on the card blank to hold the base down and the card was finished.

 Best Glue Ever adheres to smooth surfaces without wrinkling the paper. The No-Clog Writing Cap helps me get glue in all the nooks and crannies. ScraPerfect products make this card a success.

How To Make A Homecoming Layout With Best Glue Ever

The uneven surface on this homecoming layout was not an obstacle for Best Glue Ever. I adhered patterned paper, craft foam, and stickers right over all the little ridges. The result is a wonderfully messy page with great staying power!

The first layers on this page were made with Nuvo Embellishment paste and stencils. This created texture, depth, and an uneven surface. Best Glue Ever sticks to anything so I had no concerns.

I cut the photo mats at a 1/4" and a 1/2" larger than the photo and used BGE to layer them.

Thin stripes of BGE attached the photo to the layered mat.

The geometric diecut had very thin strips of paper but a No-Clog Writing Cap made it easy to add tiny dots of BGE to the paper. The die-cuts were placed on either side of the photo mat.

Foam tape is easily replaced with craft foam and BGE. I glued to squares to the back of the photo mat. It only take s a couple minutes to set and is so efficient to use.

More BGE adhered the photo mat cluster to the layout. 

A couple minutes to set and my photo was immovable, despite the uneven layers of mixed media. 

I adhered another geometric die-cut to the upper left corner. Once again the No-Clog Writing Cap gave me ultimate control and the ability to place only tiny dots on the paper.

I arranged the diecut onto the cardstock and mixed media surface then trimmed off the edge. 

My title was next, but I knew those alpha stickers would not adhere to the variety of surfaces. No worries, a couple drops of BGE and my title was secure. I used a strip of paper to keep the letters even.

A few stickers and my layout was complete. Best Glue Ever worked for every surface and material I used. ScraPerfect has BGE, No-Clog Writing Caps and a variety of other crafty tools.

How To Get The Best Use From Your Writing Cap

Here are some tips for how to get the best use from your writing cap. The No-Clog Writing Cap from ScraPerfect makes it easy to write with glue or paint. This Writing Cap also lets you put one tiny dot of glue exactly where you want it.

But what do you do if you notice glue seeping out between the writing tip and the blue collar? What a waste, what a mess! This happens when the inner pink tip is not screwed into the glue cap. Unscrew the blue collar, clean all the bits up, and place the pink tip back into the base cap. A clockwise, 1/4 turn will seat the writing tip securely. Screw the blue collar back on and you are ready to craft!

If you do not clean your writing tip after its last use, then leave it for a long time you might have a tragedy like the one pictured below. The glue has sealed the writing tip to the white pin top. It was quite stuck so I gave it a firm tug. The writing tip pulled right out of the pink collar it is meant to be permanently bound to!

The Good News:
The Best Glue Ever is so strong and so versatile that now the writing tip is permanently bound to the white pin top.

The Bad News:
The No-Clog Writing Cap is permanently damaged. I will need to get a new one.
The Moral of the Story:

Always clean your Writing Cap, especially if you will not be using it for awhile.

For frequent use simply rinse the cap with water when you have finished crafting for the day. Store glue up-right and you should have no sticky problems. If the whole cap assembly is stuck together Do Not get out the pliers and start tugging. Unscrew the cap assembly from the glue bottle. Spritz inside and seams with Best Cleaner Ever. Let cap sit for 10 to 20 min. The cap should disassemble easily. If not, spritz again and let sit.

Sweet Dreams of The Big Eyed Kitty

The Big Eyed Kitty and his Sweet Dreams poses gives me endless opportunities for great photos. The October 1st sketch from Stuck?! Sketches lent itself perfectly to this photo of kitty relaxation. It also left plenty of room for a bit of mixed media play time.

I didn't do a complete step-by-step photo session for this scrapbook page, but I caught the highlights and that means a few tips for you. The first is the distressed edges of the paper inside the coral zipper. To get the roughened look I laid the paper on a ruler and used a finger nail file on the edge.

I wanted a bit of metallic shine on my page so I dabbed DecoArt acrylic paint through a stencil.

I added more layers and texture with a different stencil and Liquitex modeling paste. I painted random paisleys with peach Color Shine.

The multi-faceted gem die cut served as an unusual mat for my title. I needed the vellum to stick to the paper without leaving unsightly marks. I used the No-Clog Cap and Best Glue Ever from ScraPerfect to accomplish this chore.

The finished title reclines dreamily on a rub-on couch with a periwinkle flower.

I added wood elements to my page in the form of gears and book plates.

A generous helping of tangerine and periwinkle flowers decorate the gears.

How To Make Epic ATC's With Beautiful and Unique Foiled Paper

Today I am sharing how to make epic ATC's with Foiled Paper that is beautiful and unique. My theme for June's ATC A Day Challenge was Ocean. It quickly deteriorated into a chaos of unrelated ideas. Before it did I made this pair of ATC's with Rinea Foiled Paper accents.

~ Ocean ATC's ~

 Making the Fish ATC was fairly simple. First I punched the center then the opposite corners with detailed designs. I stamped and embossed fish then lined the card with Red Glossy Foiled Paper.

 I used the amazing glue from ScraPerfect to hold the slippery foiled paper onto the cardstock. The No-Clog Writing Cap helped me place very thin lines and dots of the Best Glue Ever exactly where I wanted them.

 The Ocean Waves ATC took several applications of product. First I painted stripes of watercolors onto the cards. Over that I stamped and then embossed layers of waves. The final step was a frame, die cut from Silver Glossy Foiled Paper.

Together, this pair of ATC's show how simple it is to add a bit of glow to any project using Rinea Foiled Paper!

How To Make a Statement With Beautiful Metallic Frames

Today I am sharing this one page layout that makes a statement with beautiful metallic frames. Last summer I spent a few days in Tacoma with a dear friend. We enjoyed an idyllic morning at Point Defiance Park. These photos are from the Japanese Garden.

The frames are made from Rinea Foiled Paper in Copper Glossy. I used the Metallics Variety Pack but it also comes on a roll.

For the detailed points I used a fancy frame die and cut the corners off at a diagonal. The foiled paper takes the dry embossing in such exquisite detail.

 For the third photo I used a thinner frame from the same die set.

 The sketch I used had lovely groupings at the corners. I choose wood veneer leaves and chipboard cameras for my layers. ScraPerfect glue is the ideal answer for attaching wood veneer. It only takes a drop or two of the Best Glue Ever and holds securely. The No-Clog Writing Cap makes the drops super easy to place.
