How To Free-hand Paint a Canvas Bag

How about a canvas pen bag with a balloon scene painted free hand? Painting on canvas is a classical art. But don't wait for stretched or treated canvas to get started. Just grab the nearest canvas blank from Canvas Corp Brands, a few bottles of Glimmer Glam, and start spreading happiness!

Crafting with Canvas is the Summer Crew Challenge at CCB.  For my entry I used this sweet little bag. It is canvas on one side and burlap on the other and measures 5.5" by 7.5". It also has a zipper which makes it perfect for pens. Find it on line:

I wanted to take my tote with me so did a little altering. I set an eyelet at each end of the bag on the canvas side.  Then I laced a 10" length of Natural Hemp Cord through the eyelets and attached it to the rings with slip knots.

The tassel is all about glitz and glam. I used embroidery floss in pink, green, and gold to compliment the bag colors and a pewter balloon charm. These hang from silver links, attached to a blue and gold beaded zipper pull.

Embossed Card With A Dahlia And Sequins

A foiled paper dahlia and a scattering of sequins decorate this embossed card. Never one to shy away from too much shine, I let the layers add up. Strips of lace and a quote from Canvas Corp Brands paper are complimented by a whimsical, doodled border.

~ I'd Rather Wear Flowers ~

Most of my crafty time falls on the weekend. When the end of the month falls on the weekend I have to struggle to find challenges that are current. This time my search was rewarded with a sketch and a supply challenge. 

Tic, Tac, Toe Challenge #41 

I participated with the center, horizontal row.

The sketch is by Julee Tilman of Viva la Verve Sketches.

My first step was to dry emboss a 4x6 of Gold Glossy Foiled Paper from Rinea with a leaf embossing folder. 

 The flower layers were next. I used a die from Amazon as well as Blush and Jade Starstruck Foiled Paper from Rinea.

  A hand doodled border in periwinkle ink added a touch of whimsy.

 Strips of lace give the assembled dahlia and quote card a place to line up.

 The sequins are a mix of green, white and grey.

Double Page Layout With Fussy Cut Photos

Today I have a double page layout with fussy cut photos. My Christmas wish is rarely for a purchasable gift since I prefer experiences and such. For December of 2016 I asked the kids for a photo for Christmas. I wanted a photo of all of us in "ugly Christmas sweaters" that we had made ourselves. Si decided on Toothless and we found a free pattern on google. We cut the little dragon out of felt and Si spent several days stitching him on.

~ Pins & Needles ~

 I fussy cut Si out of each photo and used foam circles to adhere him to the Rinea Jade Starstruck Foiled Paper circle in the center.

 In honor of the Christmas season I used wood trees around the edges of the 8" circle in varying sizes.

 The five scalloped circle frames are die cut from Rinea Ebony Glossy Foiled Paper. I stitched a diagonal line across the cardstock and two of the frames.

For this first layout I used the Scrap the Boys: March Sketch. I found it through Laura Whitaker's Instagram account. I have quite a preference for her sketches and was pleased to see another option for this month. Since I have plenty of photos of my own boy I was ready to play along.

When Si finished his sweater he was rather proud of it. I was proud of him for sticking to the project and for such excellent work. We decided to include a fish wrapped with a ribbon as a Christmas gift from Toothless to Hiccup. Si proudly stood next to the tree for a photo.

 The flowers are die cut from both Jade and Ebony Rinea Foiled Paper. I stacked and glued them then curled the petals with the handle of my craft knife.

 The tree shape is layers of Rinea Jade Glossy Foiled Paper and foam circles Each layer of the tree and the photo mat are at different heights.

 Just a few more wood trees on either side of this layout to match the ones on Pins and Needles. The single photo mat is Rinea Jade Glossy Foiled Paper and the double size photo mat is Rinea Ebony Starstruck Foiled Paper.

I used Stuck?! Sketches March 1st Sketch for this second layout. I used a tree shape in place of the circle as the background. The layered die-cut flowers represent the stars. The strips were a perfect place to add some of my extensive washi collection. I DO love that sticky stuff. 😍😍😍

The two layouts together tell the tale of a boy and his hand-sewn sweater. What a cutie!!!

Valentines Tree Accessories With Canvas Corp Paper

String's of hearts and a heart topper get this cutie ready for Valentine's day. I love decorating a tree for any holiday. If I had room in my house we'd have one up year round. Since our space is small we'll stick to this little one. 

The kraft and pattered paper is from my recent Canvas Corp Brands design team kit. It came with paper and burlap scraps as well as all the Tattered Angels High Impact Paints I had ordered. Can't wait to use it all up so I can get another shipment!

Burlap and Canvas Valentine Card

I love to make elaborate burlap and canvas Valentine's Day cards. My goal was to try out a variety of Canvas Corp Brand Products. They all performed exceptionally well. This shabby chic stitched card is thick with layer after layer of texture and color. Instructions for the flowers and the leaves are included below.

Here is a look at the supplies I used.

 Knot Rose

Step 1:Tie a loose knot in the middle of the fabric.
Step 2:Fold top piece back into knot as show.
Step 3:Add a drop of hot glue inside. Leave tail for attaching.

 Canvas Leaves

Step 1:Cut canvas in half length wise and width wise.
Step 2:Fold canvas with raveled edge to the left, color side in.
Step 3:Stitch diagonal line from raveled edge to straight edge.
Step 4:Trim excess. Open to reveal leaf.

After preparing my roses and leaves I arranged everything in layers. I glued and stitched the pieces to the card base. My final step was to stitch the sentiment to the top lace.
