How To Make an Unforgettable Anniversary Card

We all have that amazing couple in our life. The one that's deeply in love, thinks the world of each other, and has everything they could ever want. How do you celebrate their special day?
With an anniversary card as incredible as they are.

Endless Love

Supplies:

12x12 sheet of patterned cardstock

1 yard of twine

1 extra-length brad

yarn needle

Paper Trimmer

Paper Piercer

Border Punch

Directions:

Step 1. Cut 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock in half. Punch length of the paper with border punch.

Step 2. Cut punched paper into 1 x 6 inch strips. Use a corner rounder on the ends of the strips. This will make 12 ribs.

Step 3. Cut 2 strips of paper, 1.25 x 6.5 inches. Punch the tops with border punch and the ends with a corner rounder. This will make 2 guards. 

Step 3. Pierce a hole 1/4 inch from the end of the rib, at the center of the paper. Pierce a second hole 4 inches from the end and 1/4 inch from the left side of the rib. Pierce a third hole 1/4 inch down from the second hole. Use the first pierced rib as a guide for all the ribs to be sure the holes line up exactly.

Step 4. Pierce a hole 3/4 inch from the end of the guard, at the center of the paper. Lay the first pierced rib over the guard, line up the center, end holes. Pierce the top two holes using the rib as a guide.

Step 5. Stack the strips of paper so the holes line up and the ribs are sandwiched between the guards. Feed all the strips onto a brad and secure. 

Step 6. Tie a knot in the end of the twine. Beginning with the last guard string the twine through the two upper holes 2 times.

Step 7. Lay the first rib against the last guard so that the edges over lap just a little. String the twine through the two upper holes 2 times. Over-lap the next rib and repeat with twine. Knot the twine after the final guard has been stitched onto the fan.

Step 8. Decorate the top fan guard. Add sentiment to the fan ribs with tiny type.

Layeres Mixed Media Card: Be Thankful

Today's project is a mixed media card with lots of layers and a reminder to "be thankful". This card is made from the Tattered Walls Kit offered by 123 Scrap With Me. I used the Lilac Nuvo Embellishment Mousse from my kit add-on. The centerpiece is an Architextures vintage typewriter.

 Step 1: Cut a 4x6 card blank from BFS Tattered Walls: The Sun Room. On the front, spread Lilac Lavender Nuvo Mousse through the TCW Stencil:Screen Print.

 Step 2: When Nuvo Mousse is dry add one square of 7gypsies Architextures: Light Metal Grates to the lower right corner.

 Step 3: Cut a tag shape from BFS Tattered Walls:The Library. Knot trim from kit onto tag. Adhere tag to card front.

 Step 4: Die-cut a doily from BFS Tattered Walls:The Sun Room. Adhere to card front.

 Step 5:Affix Architextures Treasures:Typewriter to card front. Add Ideology:Clippings sticker "be thankful".

 Step 6:Add Flower to left of sentiment. Each kit comes with a random assortment of Prima flowers. My kit came with a variety of pastel roses.

How To Make an Elegant Card that is Quick and Easy

Today's project is a mixed media card that is as elegant as it is easy to make. This Dragonfly Card assembles super fast with the Tattered Walls Kit from 123 ScrapWith Me. The sheen of Nuvo Embellishment Mousse adds a chic touch to the mix of dark and light neutrals. The large variety of phrases from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Clippings lets you add a sentiment quickly.

To accommodate the dragon fly design I cut a 4 ¾ x6 ¾” card front from BFS:Sun Room I centered that on a 5x7” card blank in cream from my own stash.

I cut 6 squares of 1” and 4 squares of ½” inch from BFS:Apartment B. I arranged them on either edge of the card as shown.

Using a pencil I marked the center of the card as well as the center of the dragon fly stencil. I lined up the marks and added Nuvo Embellishment Mousse over the top.

This product is super easy to use. Dab it on with a finger, apply with a scraper, or use a paint brush.

 If you want extra texture on a project just flip the stencil over and press the excess product on to your project.

Each application offers a different finish. Clean up is a snap. 

Just rinse under running water and rub gently.

The dragonfly dried while I was cleaning off the stencil. I added a sentiment from the Idea-ology Clippings and my card was ready to send off.

Fairy Cards, Toadstools, and Weekend Crafting Time

A pair of Fairy cards with Rinea Foiled Paper and plenty of toadstools occupied my weekend crafting time. I’ve been salivating over Graphic 45’s Fairie Dust collection while I waited for my paper pack to arrive. It came in last week and I spent spare moments fussy cutting to prep for a creative Saturday.

First up is a Fairie Queen, chatting with butterflies in her garden. This fussy-cut beauty has a crown and armband enhanced with copper Stickles. The butterflies are heat embossed and embellished with Stickles.

The inner frame is cut from Rinea Jade/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper. I overlaid it with toadstools attached with foam tape for depth. The paper details are inked on the edges.

Rinea Jade/GoldGlossy Foiled Paper embossed with a butterfly folder from Darice sets the stage for the second card. The foiled paper is matted with a rectangle of Violet Vale. These papers are centered on a 4x6, cream card blank.

A trio of toadstools grace the bottom border while foam tape helps the center medallion pop. A pair of fairies are tucked behind and dots of copper Stickles pick out the details. The layered butterfly stickers are a gift from my Australian pen pal.

Mermaid Framed Cards With Foiled Paper

Today's show and tell is a pair of framed mermaid cards with shiny Rinea Foiled Paper. I used my new order from Peachy Cheap:Secrets of the Sea by Bella Blvd. Of course I'm a sucker for anything mermaid. This collection is super cute and will make tons of cards.

 I checked out Scrapy Land for a new challenge and was not disappointed. Their criteria are "anything goes" and "use a brand of die sold by Scrapy Land". I have both Crafter's Companion dies and Lawn Fawn dies so I was all set. The supplies I used for Challenge # 87 are arrayed below.

 For the first card I used Rinea Silver/Silver Starstruck Foiled Paper and an ornate circle die by Crafter's Companion. I added an octopus stamped and diecut with Lawn Fawn supplies.

 The frame for the second card is cut from Rinea Silver/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper. It is also a Crafter's Companion Die. Both sentiments are cut with Peachy Cheap dies. 

The patterned paper and puffy stickers are from the Bella Blvd Collection. The No-Clog Writing Cap from ScraPerfect made it a cinch to get glue onto the die cut words. 

This week at Cute Card Thursday Challenge # 524 is Anything Goes. This card is definitely cute so I am submitting it there as well.

Embossed Card With A Dahlia And Sequins

A foiled paper dahlia and a scattering of sequins decorate this embossed card. Never one to shy away from too much shine, I let the layers add up. Strips of lace and a quote from Canvas Corp Brands paper are complimented by a whimsical, doodled border.

Most of my crafty time falls on the weekend. When the end of the month falls on the weekend I have to struggle to find challenges that are current. This time my search was rewarded with a sketch and a supply challenge. 

Tic, Tac, Toe Challenge #41 

I participated with the center, horizontal row.

The sketch is by Julee Tilman of Viva la Verve Sketches.

My first step was to dry emboss a 4x6 of Gold Glossy Foiled Paper from Rinea with a leaf embossing folder. 

 The flower layers were next. I used a die from Amazon as well as Blush and Jade Starstruck Foiled Paper from Rinea.

  A hand doodled border in periwinkle ink added a touch of whimsy.

 Strips of lace give the assembled dahlia and quote card a place to line up.

 The sequins are a mix of green, white and grey.

How To Make a Beautiful,Textured Card

Here's a few tips for making a beautiful textured card from scraps. Just like every other paper crafter, I have a scraps in every color, texture, and size. How does one combine those into a quick card that isn't to garish or confusing to look at?

This card is made entirely from left-overs. To keep it simple and to help the design flow I used layers of rectangles in different sizes. I used a rounded diecut and ornate red frame to contrast the pastel colors and straight lines that dominate this design.

ScraPerfect's Best Glue Ever works on multiple surfaces. With everything I had going on here it was the only choice! I had to have a fine tipped applicator for the detail pieces. The NO-Clog Writing Cap, also by ScraPerfect, saved the day.

The frame is diecut from Rinea's Ruby/Ruby Starstruck Foiled Paper. The derigible and sentiment are diecut from Rinea's Turquoise/Turquoise Starstruck Foiled Paper. I finished off the card with dots of glitter glue. They add another pop of color and frame the central diecut.

Burlap and Canvas Valentine Card

I love to make elaborate burlap and canvas Valentine's Day cards. My goal was to try out a variety of Canvas Corp Brand Products. They all performed exceptionally well. This shabby chic stitched card is thick with layer after layer of texture and color. Instructions for the flowers and the leaves are included below.

Here is a look at the supplies I used.

 Knot Rose

Step 1:Tie a loose knot in the middle of the fabric.
Step 2:Fold top piece back into knot as show.
Step 3:Add a drop of hot glue inside. Leave tail for attaching.

 Canvas Leaves

Step 1:Cut canvas in half length wise and width wise.
Step 2:Fold canvas with raveled edge to the left, color side in.
Step 3:Stitch diagonal line from raveled edge to straight edge.
Step 4:Trim excess. Open to reveal leaf.

After preparing my roses and leaves I arranged everything in layers. I glued and stitched the pieces to the card base. My final step was to stitch the sentiment to the top lace.
