Double Digits

More photos from my daughters birthday. Lots of fussy cutting and staples on this layout in keeping with the steampunk look. I added a bit of vellum to help the butterfly and gears stand out.

This Is 10

I have stacks of partial alphabets stashed away. There aren't quite enough letters to make a full title. When I started this layout of my daughters birthday I decided that the jointed look of piecing the letters together would match perfectly with the steam punk style of the paper.

Great Grandma's Chair

This rocking chair has been in my Grandfather's house for as long as I can remember. Having it in my house is like having a little piece of my childhood, of my Grandfather's presence, with me. I loved hearing Grandpa tell me that his Mom brought it with her when she emigrated from Norway.

Fancy Flames

My kids are very much into specialty candles. When I found birthday candles with colored flames I knew they would be a hit. The oohhh's and aahhh's that accompanied the lighting of these candles were all I could wish for.
This is my entry for Use It Tuesday's latest challenge: Fasteners. My hoarded item is the pigment Ink I used to paint the cardstock. I bought the refill at a yardsale over the summer and still haven't used it to re-ink my stamp pad!

Hawk Moth

Sketch Inspiration today at Practical Scrappers. Come see the sketch by Liz Chidester and get busy creating!!!
I spent a great deal of time last fall collecting pickle jars to house the caterpillars my kids had become fascinated with. We ended up with a total of four caterpillars. This gorgeous creature was one of them. Once we had identified him we discovered he was a bio agent and so we released him. The other caterpillars were 2 Wooly Bears,
and a Penguin Back. (Yeah, we couldn't identify
the last one so we named him ourselves.)

Can't Outgrow These

Ten Things Tuesday at Practical Scrappers and today we are featuring staples.
My favorite way to use staples on a project is to arrange them in rows of  X shapes, almost like cross stitching. For this layout I was inspired my MME's January Guest Designer: Gina Rodgers.
I love how her projects use TONZ of white space as well as layers.

Supplies:
Paper, Chipboard, Stickers:MME
Gems & Brads:Recollections

Silas

This is my entry for the first challenge of the brand new blog: About A Boy. The first challenge is to include the name of your boy somewhere on your layout. It seemed easiest
to use my sons name as the title.
Silas found this deer statue in the outdoor garden of our favorite green house. He wanted several photos taken with it. He looks so cute, and quite pleased with himself!

She Said

I was thrilled to work with Gina's Designs lasercut chipboard pieces I received from Christine Meyer. I was so inspired by them that I went straight to my crafting table and didn't leave till I had finished a layout. Lucky me, I had this photo of my two girls sharing a moment to embellish. The heart lasercuts and the valentine sentiment stickers from SRM were the perfect accents to my page.
