Enchanted Wings

Red Carpet Studio #96
Magical Fairy Tale Theme
I must admit that fairies, mermaids, and unicorns are something I never will grow out of! I am THRILLED to see this as a theme over at RCS. My girls told me I'm much too old to make such a card. I just smiled and painted my stamped wings with a touch of Dylusions and a paint brush!

Share The Shimmer

Welcome to this months Scrapping Our Stash blog hop.
These papers have done their time waiting to be used.
Now they are having the time of their life helping a little girl
~ Share The Shimmer ~
Bo Bunny Glitter Paste is perfect for that touch of glitz or for turning stars from shapes into dreamy night lights. A gem here and there brings out the shine.
To enhance the dream like quality of this layout I used Kreaxions Punches to make circular frames. A scattering of the left over pieces adds to the star theme.

Easter Jars

Today's Project is the result of my jar collection.
I am always saving jars for some future project. The ones with fancy shapes become candy jars. But the salsa and pickle and olive jars???
~ Easter Jars ~
The plain jars are the easiest for wrapping tape.
They have their chance to shine as Easter Jars...to replace the hours of boiling, coloring, and hiding eggs!

Happy Caterpillar

One summer we visited my sister in Oregon. The area is well known for it's produce and we went out to see for ourselves. After picking MANY flats of berries we began the process of preserving them. One of my children, dressed in her cousin's costume, stopped for a taste.
~ Happy Caterpillar ~
This paper from the Craft Smith, FlutterBloom collection was meant to simplify the scrapping process. It offers a pre-decorated title portion. To dress it up a little I added gold embossed rings with a mask and a triplet of butterflies.
For the photo mat I layered strips of washi that complimented my title cluster. A few more scraps from the Flutter Bloom collections and a touch of kraft gave my photo some height. The lime green gears were perfect for clustering and so quick to cut with my dies and punch.

Lucky Bird

This weeks posts are all about our chance meeting with a man and his bird. My daughter took this photo of the parrot. He was bright, friendly, and so pretty. Not to mention simply
ADORED by his owner.
This is my entry for Red Carpet Studios #95
~ Lucky Bird ~
I have been tying to figure out how to make a bubble look on my layouts that enhances a shiny spot of color. For this project I used Photo Bead Dots with circles of silver paper.

Feather Soft

The Pirate/Wood Worker from my previous post was very proud of his little bird. He showed us his tricks and we applauded delightedly!
~ Feather Soft ~
The blue and green of the photos is replayed on the Craft Smith paper as well as the gears. To get the blue chevron design I lay several strips of washi tape on the back of my patterned paper before punching the gears. When I adhered them to the page I used which ever side of the gear looked best.
I inked the left facing parrot on to my paper then flipped the stencil to get the right facing parrot. To add "branches" for the parrots to sit on I used a flourish stamp.

Pirate Sighting

One summer day on a drive across town we stopped to view this mans wooden yard art. The pirate ship was our favorite and he graciously allowed us to take photos on it. Then he brought out his parrot and we took turns petting him and letting him sit on our shoulder. We were convinced we had found the
COOLEST pirate ever!
~ Pirate Sighting ~
My pirate pack from Funfare Stencil came in useful all over this page.
To draw attention to my journaling I traced the pirate straight from the stencil.
I inked the ship on either side of the photo.
To get the reverse ship I just turned over the stencil.

The Jolly Rodger appears twice in this stencil set,
once in full size and once in miniature on the map.
Of course I had to use them both!!!

Pretty Papers

I have been waiting VERY impatiently for the new paper from Craft Smith. Yesterday I strolled into my Michaels and discovered more paper pads then my budget could hold!!!
I chose just four.
~Dip Dyed~
These papers are an average thickness, as are the rest of the paper pads. I'd call this color family Popsicle Brights.
There are 4 different fade styles.
1. Color on the lower edge fading to white
2. Color in the middle fading to white on each end
3.Color on each end fading to white in the middle
4. Three bright colors fading into each other
 ~Flutterbloom~
This paper collection is a continuation of the Popsicle Bright color type. The orange and turquoise pair well with the lime green and lemon yellow. It is the ultimate spring stack with flowers and butterflies and great geometrics. Here are some sample pages including a great one-and-done style.
 ~Tea Party~
This collection looks like it was made JUST for us. We do love a good party and like to find reasons to pull out the mismatched china. It has lots of coral and teal with pastel yellow, green, and pink as accents.
Gold foil adds the icing to this cupcake! It is sprinkled liberally across 12 of the papers. Butterflies, birdcages, paisleys, and florals are just a few of the available prints.
 ~Terra Nova~
This paper pad reminds me of an old library. Maps, alphas, leather, and even a book print are among the pages. The colors are deep and earthy with a nice range of brights and darks.
Each of the 48 sheets in this pad have a grid texture.
The Hot Buy paper pads will be available for a limited time. The paper pads found in the aisle with the other manufacture choices will be available longer.

LUCKY

I am one of those people that believe LUCK is hard work and perseverance. But I can't deny that Spring offers an intense feeling of well being. Those days of warm sun and the smell of growing things makes me feel like NOTHING can go wrong with the world.

This banner illustrates just how spring makes me feel:

Vanilla Swirl

Our ferret Chester loved sleeping in circle so that his feet and tail touched his ears. He looked just like a vanilla cone.

This layout is my entry for Red Carpet Studio #94
The challenge was to use different shades of grey,
a touch of red
and a special technique.
I had an assortment of cream and peach flowers that I inked with shades of grey. I also die-cut pine boughs from grey patterned paper. The border strip and the photo mat are each from a different grey as well as the hearts.
I chose masking for my technique.
I used the negative from cutting the pine boughs as my mask.
I laid it over the title and dabbed with pigment ink.

Bread Buddy

Our winter gets long and cold with deep snow.
We take pity on the squirrels and feed them bread.
They get so used to the handouts they wait on the deck or come look in my craftroom window to see what happened to the snack!
~Bread Buddy~
This layout is all about showing off the amazing Gradients paper by Craftsmith. I just can't get over the delicious colors and fade in. To get the speckeled background I inked the texture piece, pressed it here and there, then slipped it on the page as a layer.

U and Me

The ampersand is such a fun logogram to use. It comes from the Latin alphabet and has plenty of curves and flourishes. I used a die-cut ampersand as a mask and a bit of aqua mist to get my center piece.

Those Legos Tho!

Our Chester, mischief in fur and whisker form, loved the Lego box. He played in it like a child does a ball pit. He would jump in and out of the Legos and then drag one or two blocks off to his lair.
~ Those Legos Tho! ~
To reinforce the lego theme I used my Funfare Lego Block stencil with mist, paint, ink, and fussy cutting. I slipped it under and over the layers randomly.
When I had finished with the stencil I began adding layers of gems, ribbon, and Love My Tapes washi tape.
In the end I got a riot of color with a naughty white ferret in the middle. Pretty much describes our boy exactly!!!
