Sparkle Flake

Winter in the Pacific Northwest is just right for papercrafting.
One thinks highly of enjoying the outdoors through the windows rather than from the drivers seat!!!
Although this gold foil design is not 6-sided, it was made with the idea of a snowflake in mind. I used the Kreaxions circle cutter, star template, and punches #907 and #909.
The gold foil paper and Red music notes are by Craftsmith Co., from last years Christmas release. And not to be neglected is that delightful gold embossing powder from WOW and the little red brad from Recollections.
A tutorial on punching snowflakes will be available on January 14th.

Jingle Trees

Decorating for Christmas with gold foiled paper is so fun!
The Mint Pink paper pad from Craft Smith offers a great alternative color scheme.
These trees are made from triangles, slit part way down the center and bent towards the ends. The edges are punched with Kreaxions Punch #312.
The tray was a wood grain contact paper number I snatched up at a thrift store. I gave it a few coats of black acrylic paint and then sprinkled it with glitter and powdered milk paint while the final coat was still drying. After sufficient drying time, I knocked the extra powder off and added trees and candles.

Star Wishes

Full time college classes leave little room for crafting, but the savvy crafter will always find away!!! I couldn't let Christmas zoom past without at least a nod at the new Star Wars movie!
My first card uses a combination of Craftsmith paper, Funfare stencil, and Kreaxions punch # 914.
Kreaxions punch #312, another Funfare stencil, and silver foiled Craftsmith paper were used to create the second card.

The Sky Is The Limit

Today I used punches to make a butterfly card. I like the shapes-with-in-a-shape concept and my Kreaxions punches made that ultra easy.
~ The Sky Is The Limit ~
The larger butterfly #604 and the smaller butterfly from border punch #901 mesh nicely. To stay true to the butterfly shape I cut some of the butterflies in half.

Hello Fall

Today's project is an Autumn banner.
Our rainy weather dried up just long enough to grab a photo on my wooden fence. So quaint!

Sugar Sweet

My oldest daughter has been enjoying anime in conjunction with her first year Japanese Language class. It's resulting in new hair styles and edgier clothing. Of course that boils down to more photo ops for me!!!
~ Sugar Sweet ~
To give the roses dimension I spritzed them with water them crumpled them and let them dry. I used hot glue to adhere the irregular shapes to the photo mat area. I also added a line of stitching to anchor the roses to the paper.

Paper Pumpkin

It's my favorite time of year...pumpkin everything!!!
Today's project is a Pumpkin made from punched strips, laced with washi tape.
To begin I cut 8 strips 12x 3.5 inch strips from cardstock. I punched both sides with Kreaxions punch #311. Then I unrolled a 13 inch piece of washi tape, folded it in half, and laced it through the punch marks.
I covered a toilet paper tube with matchin paper. I used brads to fasten the ends of the strips into one end of the tube. Then I folded those strips outward and over and connected all of them together at the top with another brad.

To form the stem I rolled a 3x3 piece of paper into a tube. I folded one end of the tube back into itself and cut four slits into the other end of the tube. These pieces I adhered to the top of the pumpkin.
To add to the charm of this home made pumpkin, just add a battery operated candle and let it glow all night.

Mandala Cards

The art of drawing Mandalas is ancient and relaxing.  For some it is a spiritual experience and for others an artistic out-pouring. I can't draw to save my life but I can make ANYTHING with scraps of paper. After enjoying several original designs via Google images I found a tutorial. I learned the basic idea and started making Mandala designs on cards.
My first card was bright, cheery, and a little off center.
My second card was grander with touches of red and copper.
When I thought I had the general idea down I made a standard size card in gold and blue. This design is much more detailed and exacting. Not perhaps how the Mandala was meant to be produced, but I was VERY happy with the result.
The website I used for instructions has a basic step by step as well as a nicely done video with inspirational music.

Part of Me

Moving means saying goodbye to friends. This time it was goodbye to my bestie, Courtney. I miss that lady and all the long talks, not to mention the parties! We still chat on Facebook and exchange images, but I can't drive over to her house anymore. But she will always be

Happy

This sweet girls has always understood the value of a pretty dress and well trimmed hat! She was SO much fun to dress as a child. She had a definite style in mind, but at least she had good taste!!!
~ Happy ~
All the diamond shapes in the border paper create a nifty geometric edge. I used triangle shapes to echo that design and mat the title. A bit of doodling in place of inking keeps the layout light and airy, reminiscent of lattice.

Love of My Life

My sweet Lori never traveled far without her thumb. She was a fussy infant but early on learned the thumb would heal all woes. I learned to dress her with types of cloth she liked the feel of. It wasn't till she was four that she was diagnosed with Autism and the fussy behavior fully understood.
~ Love of My Life ~
To reproduce the dripped ink/paint look from the sketch I decided to make verical rips in my background paper. It took a few tries to get the look I wanted, then I used Distress Ink on the edges. I also dripped mist over the area. A lovely dotted gold pattern peeks through the tears.

Painting Piggies

When my girls were little I often babysat during the day to give them someone to play with and earn a little cash on the side. Being a house of girls there was plenty of dress up and nail polish to go around. I also learned that most tragedies could be smoothed over with a Freezie Pop.
~ Painting Piggies ~
This particular painting turned out to be Coleen's first time wearing toe nail polish. I'm sure it was a ghastly pink color and that it was smeared before drying properly. My memory of this is a very happy little girl who couldn't wait to show everyone her toes.

Paradise

This sweet fur baby came to us a year ago from the Humane Society. He was a surrender and was terribly afraid when I first met him. Over the few weeks I worked there he made it clear I was to take him home. Then one day I did!
He has been eternally grateful. He wakes us up in the morning and reminds us of bedtime at night. He alerts me if the kids are arguing and is the first to lend a comforting paw when someone is sad. He even goes so far as to follow us on walks to make sure we get back safe.
This loving kitty boy makes our home a

I have been waiting for a chance to use this beach themed paper by Craftsmith from the Pacific Cove collection. The white Palm Trees meld perfectly with the light colors of these photos. The fact that it is all on wood grain just makes it that much better!!!

Little girls and kittens are always a sweet combo.
Here we found a batch of kittens at the county fair.
We were thrilled to snuggle them for awhile.

Tic Tac Tape

As the summer winds down it's time to start thinking about indoor activities to keep the kids busy. Children learn to play tic-tac-toe quite young. Soon hash marks begin showing up on every scrap of paper, including the sidewalk, the car window, and eep! the electric bill.
Make a large version of the game to ward off the curse of the hash marks and entertain the littles. Stop by the Love My Tapes and Just Imagine Crafts blogs for tips and close-ups.

Glamorous

Finally cutting into my Blush Glam paper from Craft Smith Co.
The chalk pink and the gold foil are the ultimate in sophistication.
They set off these sepia tone photos perfectly!
~ Glamorous ~
To tone down the masculine effect of the mustache paper I used pink and aqua mist on the wood bits. The sprays go on bright but fade nicely while drying. Having an assortment of Washi Tape on hand doesn't guarantee I will always have the perfect accent, but it sure does help!

Hugs and Kisses

I enjoy scrapping all the poses from a photo shoot, but eventually I run out of titles. To distinguish between the various layouts I add journaling blocks or preprinted titles of a generic theme. It helps the page look complete without overwhelming my albums.
~ Hugs and Kisses ~
The pastel pinks and greens in these papers are the perfect foil for the black doily and punched pieces. The stark contrast gives this layout a chalkboard effect.

I spent last week sorting 15 years of scrapping into albums. I filled 14 albums but I need 10 more just to catch up! In the process I found that I hadn't finished scrapping the school photos from 2013. Here are a pair of layouts from that photo event.

Aqua, Pink, and Perfect

I've been using the recent series of sketches from Scrapbook Steals to complete last years summer photo shoot. Matching paper colors between companies has been a challenge, but so much fun. The first layout in this set uses Authentique.
~ Aqua, Pink, & Perfect ~
For this second layout I matched the previous pages colors using Craft Smith Paper. To keep visual continuity I used the same ribbon and washi tapes as well as chipboard and cork.

Best Wishes

Wishes! Wishes! Wishes!
Falling Stars, Dandelion Puffs, Feathers...so many things symbolize a wish. The wish culture in my family is so strong that every eye-lash and wishbone must be dealt with properly.
I never have grown too old for wishes!
