Track Back:Pyratitude

My son was looking through my finished scrapbooking projects and found this adorable layout of himself. I still can't get over what an adorable little rebel he is! I'm pretty fuzzy on when I put this page together, but I'd guess it was 2009.

Forever Friend

Phantom, our sweet beagle, has been Annalys's best friend since the day he came home with us. He takes it so far as to refuse food unless she is in the house. Summer Bible camp was a stretch for him, but he made it through. He's one of those dogs that knows just when she'll get home from school and loves nothing better than a soft pillow and good book.

Card sketch up at Practical Scrappers today. It's a beauty by Patty Selah. Stop in for some designer inspiration, then link your take on the sketch to the Practical Scrappers facebook page!
The first time I saw this embossed paper from the MME:Oliver collection it fairly SCREAMED cards at me. Although this card was a cinch to put together, I love the classic look this paper lends it.

Make Waves Not War

I've been in love with PinkPaislee's Nantucket line since it first came out...but never seemed to get around to picking it up. When I finally did order it my children discovered this jeweled sea horse and claimed it for their own. To keep them all happy I made it into wall art for their bathroom.
~ Make Waves Not War ~

To get the wave-like curve for my title I used a
Kiwi Lane Design Template.
This project is also my entry for Use It Tuesdays Challenge # 48 Warm It Up. My hoarded item on this project is the Blue cardstock...I've had that sheet 4 years!!!

Mini Swap

I participated in a mini-album swap before Christmas, but my poor swapee had a crazy month and my mini arrived in January. When I opened my package I was simply BLOWN away! What a lot I have to learn about mini-making!!! But I'll let you judge for yourself.
Just how FABULOUS is this mini?

AMAZING
Don't you think?
And these are only a few of the pages!!! There is a set for each month of the year, each pair more beautiful than the last.
Thanks for my wonderful present, Eileen Robertson!!!

Day Dreaming

This month has been so busy I've barely had time to play with my kit from C'est Magnifique! I finally found a scrap or two of time and put together my entry for the sketch challenge. The papers from this months kit look like they were chosen specifically for this photo! Putting this layout together was delightful.

Feeding Nana's Dog

All the sewing embellies in For The Record 2 are so fitting for layouts featuring our Nana. If she's not doing something crafty then she's cooking or cleaning. Our Nana is ALWAYS busy, but the whole world stops if a baby needs held.
What a great role model!!!
The Paper Girls are challenging us to use wood elements. Stop by the blog and see the designer's projects, then link up.

Thanks

This card is completely inspired by the work of my dear friend Becci. Her cards and banners have fabulous accordion centers and layers of color.
To apply the glitter to the kraft paper I used a thin paint brush and Elmer's School Glue. I painted the glue onto the existing design and added glitter. Waiting for the glue to dry is the hardest part!

Happy Mail

Todays post is a tale of woe that stretches from Alberta, Canada to Grand Forks, North Dakota! Back in December I signed up for a SWEET prize on Cathryn's Blog. I was the lucky one Random.org chose and I waited in anticipation for my package. The postal system did its thing: lost the package, tore the wrapping, delayed for a blizzard...etc. But yesterday when I arrived home from class this FABULOUS present was waiting for me!!!

8 sheets 12x12' Bazzill Cardstock
Jillibean Soup Alphabeans in Black
2 Authentique Petite Type Square in Red
3 pkg. buttons

Burlap Tags

Sometimes scrapbooking isn't about paper at all. The fiber side of memory keeping adds texture, interest, and depth to projects. I sewed these burlap tags out of remnants I picked up at a yard sale. They were super quick to make and are just waiting to add pizaz to the perfect project.
To see more tag ideas stop by the
Practical Scrappers blog.
I would like to note that adding eyelets to burlap is much easier then adding them to paper.

Toasty Toes

The beginning of the month means a new Scrappy Friends challenge!
This time a choose a photo from Christmas. Both my girls received fuzzy slippers to keep their toesies warm. My "not so hidden" journaling tag describes their reaction to the gifts.
~ Toasty Toes ~
My favorite part of the Scrappy Friends challenge is to TRY to get all four challenges on one layout. This time I not only got all 4 on one layout, but I also completed the DCWV monthly challenge and participated with Practical Scrappers color combo. GO ME!!!
Rochelle:Title and/or Lyrics of "Baby it's cold outside" somewhere on the layout.
-I used a large round sticker from my Authentique:Peaceful stash. It says, "Baby, It's cold outside."
Kristi:Washi, Glitter, and Chevrons...
-I combined the chevrons and washi challenge. The glitter is the gems in my flowers and the sparkly yarn I used to stitch the "snowflakes."
Kerys:Winter Theme...
-lots of snow flakes, and a photo of my girls new Christmas Slippers.
Brenda:Sketch Challenge...use any sketch from December or January

No "L"

Valentine's day is a pretty big deal at our house so I'm already thinking about gifts for the kids. I saw these monogram journals at Michael's and snatched up three of them.
As you can see an immediate problem exists. There is no monogram for the blue journal. Never fear, my trusty embossing tools came to the rescue.
I used a little bit of Ranger ink and Wow embossing powder with a Marth Stewart Alphabet stamp. Voila!
Now I have three monogram journals and I can get on to the fun of making cards for each child.

Friendship Never Melts Away

Felt is one of those great scrapbooking items that can be used in many ways. Practical Scrappers has all sorts of ideas posted today. Stop by the blog and check it out. For my project I used a shaped felt coaster from Michael's. It is thick enough to make a great misting mask without buckling and stays in place nicely so there is no smearing. I have quite a stack of these felt coasters. Next time you are at Michael's check out the Dollar Deals.

Ocean Swell

Regency Romance

This summer my 11 year old decided to learn to sew. She wanted a dress like the costumes in Sense and Sensibility. We found a simple pattern and a fabulous gold cloth. But 15 minutes into the project she was done! She was just fine with Mom finishing off the dress in her spare time.
True to her word, she made supper on each day that I had time to work on the dress. It wasn't till Christmas break that I finally got it done. She is thrilled with the dress and treated me to a fabulous photo shoot.
