Mermaid Framed Cards With Foiled Paper

Today's show and tell is a pair of framed mermaid cards with shiny Rinea Foiled Paper. I used my new order from Peachy Cheap:Secrets of the Sea by Bella Blvd. Of course I'm a sucker for anything mermaid. This collection is super cute and will make tons of cards.

 I checked out Scrapy Land for a new challenge and was not disappointed. Their criteria are "anything goes" and "use a brand of die sold by Scrapy Land". I have both Crafter's Companion dies and Lawn Fawn dies so I was all set. The supplies I used for Challenge # 87 are arrayed below.

 For the first card I used Rinea Silver/Silver Starstruck Foiled Paper and an ornate circle die by Crafter's Companion. I added an octopus stamped and diecut with Lawn Fawn supplies.

 The frame for the second card is cut from Rinea Silver/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper. It is also a Crafter's Companion Die. Both sentiments are cut with Peachy Cheap dies. 

The patterned paper and puffy stickers are from the Bella Blvd Collection. The No-Clog Writing Cap from ScraPerfect made it a cinch to get glue onto the die cut words. 

This week at Cute Card Thursday Challenge # 524 is Anything Goes. This card is definitely cute so I am submitting it there as well.

Hello Spring Diecut Delight

I've been stocking up on cutting dies disproportionately to my usage. They are just so clever I can't help myself. My newest assortment is the Spring set from Peachy Cheap. There are 14 total, but I only managed to use 6 on this card. Trying to get this idea in before Easter arrives.

Along with the Spring shaped dies I also used a Spellbinders medallion die and the new Pastel Variety Pack from Rinea. I used all glossy's in this project, including the reverse side for the rabbit and butterflies.

 First I placed the peak-a-boo corner and bunny. I folded back the upper right corner of the card blank and pierced to holes. I added a few dots of Best Glue Ever underneath for extra insurance.

 The Rinea Foiled Paper corner piece and bunny are glued to the corner area with tiny dots of Best Glue Ever. The only way to get dots so tiny is with the No-Clog Writing Cap

made to fit most glues with 3 cap sizes and 3 tip sizes from ScraPerfect.

 I slipped beading thread through the pierced holes and tied a bow. Next I cut a 1" strip of Jade/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper the width of my card. I turned it into grass with Shredding Shears, also a new purchase.

I needed the grass blades to move freely. I added a thin strip of Best Glue Ever along the solid edge, once again being most grateful for my No-Clog Writing Cap.

 Placing the large egg exactly where I wanted it meant I had to curl back the tip to place more drops of Best Glue Ever.

 Exact placement was necessary because I wanted the grass to overlap the egg without obscuring the letters.

 The purple eggs are heavily perforated so I placed more drops with the No-Clog Writing Cap.

 A couple butterflies finished off the spring vignette.

Hearts, Love and a Cat Layout

This month’s Scrappy Friends Challenge is all about love and heart shapes. I chose a photo of the gentlest expression of love, a hug! Here my daughter snuggles our kitty and he wraps his fuzzy paws around her in return.

~ Love ~

To give the layers on this layout loft I used craft foam. Best Glue Ever holds it all together with a squiggle here and a squeeze there.

The heart shapes, whether they are these open wood shapes from Peachy Cheap or solid cork shapes from SpiegelMom Scraps get a dribble of the same glue and are secured permanently. 

I chose Prima flowers in the same shade of aqua as my accent papers. They needed a little something to help them stand out. I punched petals from Rinea Fuchsia/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper.

 They attached with ease using a drop of ScraPerfect’s BGE. The flower stays where I want it with a blob of BGE.

The Fuschia/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper is amazing as a photo mat and flower ring. Since you can’t have too much foiled paper on a project I just kept adding. A rectangle frame cut with a Carfter’s Companion die slips under the aqua grid paper.

 A heart frame above the title is backed by layers of heart embossed Fuschia/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper flipped to the Gold side. The same embossing folder from Darice was used on the pennant shape. Finally a heart shaped corner punch shows a bit more of the foiled paper photo mat.

For Rochelle's Challenge I needed to use the sketch and heart paper. 

I enjoyed finding diecut papers that coordinated with the many layers and colors of patterned papers. This piece of Bella Blvd with a tiny rainbow of hearts fulfills that requirement for heart paper nicely.

I chose #1 for Brenda's "This Month In History" Challenge. That requirement was to add gold. The flip side of the Fuschia/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper is perfect. 

I sent it through my hand crank embossing machine a couple times with extra pressure. This popped the heart shapes right out.

The title describes these two sweeties perfectly. An open shape rose and leaves add the crowning touch. The best part though, is the way this photo makes me feel...all warm and happy inside!

Pastel's and Misty Moments Layout

This month's mood board at the International Scrapbook Garden is all pastels and misty moments. It instantly reminded me of a rainy day photo I took of my hometown, Spokane. The sketch offered with the mood board made putting this page together a cinch!

~ Mist ~

 The misty photo melded perfectly with this grey dotted paper by Craftsmith and my Lavender/Gold Glossy Rinea Foiled Paper, embossed with a Crafter's Companion folder. To add a little warmth I die cut a lacy, circle frame from Gold/Gold Glossy Rinea Foiled Paper. 

 A thin line of ScraPerfect's Best Glue Ever is all I needed to hold the foiled paper down. The No-Clog Writing Cap helped me apply the glue only where I wanted it. 

 A few more dots of BGE and I was ready to add a canvas hot air balloon shape. I used a die to emboss the shape onto the Canvas Corp Brands 10oz Natural Canvas and hand cut it.

 After a little houndstooth embossing with a Darice folder I added strips of the Lavender and Gold Rinea Foiled Paper to the title area. With the irregular shape and slick surface, ScraPerfect's BGE was the best adhesive for the job.

 This double balloon cutout is thanks to a pair of die's from Pink and Main. I cut the larger balloon, then centered and cut the smaller balloon. The smaller balloon I placed in the photo. The larger balloon frame I reserved for the title area.

 Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Mardi Gras is misted through Aladdin's Screen, a stencil by Kite and topped with modeling paste applied through Drip Rings, a stencil by Memory Box.

 Hand lettering adds an elegant, personal touch to projects. I interpreted this skill with thin strips of Rinea Foiled Paper, folded and turned to spell out my title in script.

This misty layout is brightened by the scraps of Canvas Corp Colored Burlap in Turquoise and Light Pink.

How To Make Tiny Details Quick And Easy

Today's project is a quick tip for making tiny details stick easily. This page from my homemade journal has thin die-cuts. In fact, the lines on these die-cuts are less than 1/16 of an inch. The foiled paper looks fabulous but needs a little extra help to stay put.

The solution is simple with a little help from ScraPerfect products.

#1) The No-Clog Writing Cap

This glue tip screws on to a variety of products and gives the crafter ultimate control.

#2) The Best Glue Ever

Just a drop or two along the sides, top, middle band, and basket hold this foiled paper balloon to the page.

This page of my journal shows a variety of uses for BGE. The felt ric-rac, the foiled paper balloons, and the card stock balloon are all held down with the same product. No need to switch between bottles of adhesive. One does it all!

How To Update A Planner The Quick and Easy Way

If you need quick and easy ways to update a planner this post is for you. I have three projects that will take just minutes to complete. Kick back and take it easy today!

~ Thrifted Planner ~

I bought this cute mini-binder at local thrift store. It measures 6 7/8 x 8 7/8 " and I have cut my pages to 5.5 x 8.5". The star of today's show is the Best Glue Ever. She comes to you from ScraPerfect, magically perfect products, to demonstrate these simple uses. 

Binder Liner

The inside of the binder had carefully printed measurement charts and other standard Mead subjects. Useful, but not pretty. I cut and corner rounded a piece of floral printed cardstock to cover the mundane.

 I used watercolors to paint the flowers and detail the lattice. The paper dried quickly with little curving.

 Thin strips of the Best Glue Ever were spread around the edges of the binder with a few strips in the center.

  Because this glue doesn't make the paper buckle, the final product is quite polished. The muted colors give off a shabby chic air.

 Budget Page

I needed a chart to keep track of my spending. Sometimes my need for stickers, clips, and pretty papers gets out of hand! 😏 I used a ruler to mark out my chart on graph paper. I wanted to use my new month dies but the lines are so tiny!

 My bottle of Best Glue Ever is topped with a No-Clog Writing Cap. It was a breeze to add squiggles of glue to strategic points.

Bee Clip

I need to be able to flip between my weekly and monthly plan for keeping track of my activities. This happy embroidered bee patch is just the thing.

 I centered a bit of foam adhesive on a circle of cardstock then added a thin strip of the Best Glue Ever around the edges. I fit the clip over the foam into the glue then added a few dots of glue on top of the foam for good measure.

 I used a clothes pin to clamp the Bee Sandwich together and let it dry over night.

  The Best Glue Ever spiffed my planner up quickly. I can trust the glues holding power and long lasting effect. With these easy updates I am ready to go!
